Freestyle, Relay and ButterflySpeedo Elite Athlete - Emma Chelius
She competes in freestyle, relay and butterfly events. Emma represented South Africa at the Tokyo Olympics and is a South African record holder.
What are some of your most memorable moments or achievements?
One of my most special moments was representing my country at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. I felt so much love and support from my family, teammates and friends back home. Sport always brings our country together and it was an incredible experience. Another moment that I will never forget is swimming in the 50free finals at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games after a really tough build up to the competition. I finished 4th but it felt like I had won!
What are some of your top tips?
Set yourself specific goals for each season, write them down on a piece of paper and share them with your coach or friends. This helps to keep you focused and disciplined when your motivation takes a dip. Another top tip is to make sure you always fuel yourself correctly before, during and after a swim session - nobody likes a hangry swimmer!
Apart from swimming, what do you do for fun?
If I'm not at the pool, I am probably recovering on the couch or scouting for hidden treasure at a thrift shop.
What is your favourite Speedo product and why?
Definitely the Speedo speed socket goggles. They are so comfortable, last ages and perfect for both training and racing.
